The company PRINTY s. r. o. currently operates in the field of additive manufacturing and metal fabrication. Within its manufacturing activities, the company focuses on advanced manufacturing technologies such as metal 3D printing, the use of simulation, AI and 3D scanning in modern metal production.

The problem

Although additive devices offer a high degree of flexibility, there are a number of technological limitations within these technologies - one of which is the inability to use very soft or reactive materials. One potential new process that could compensate for the weaknesses of PRINTY s.r.o.'s existing additive technologies is "gelcasting" - a method of casting a liquid metal mixture into moulds at low temperatures and then sintering the moulded intermediate products.

However, in order to use this process, the company needed to carry out the development of process additives and identify the basic know-how to implement the chosen process for the selected materials - silver and titanium.

Objective

The aim of the project was to provide innovative advice on the development of a suitable additive and metal powder typology for the implementation of an innovative formative manufacturing process based on the gelcasting method.

The project was about gaining new knowledge and applying the outputs of the advice provided by the innovation voucher holder to practical application on the company side.

The ultimate goal of the development was to process raw materials (silver and titanium) using advanced technologies (3D printing) into high added value products.

Duration / Progress

The project was submitted at the end of 2022, the implementation took place in the months 05 - 08/2023.

Result

The innovation project brought a unique production process for PRINTY s.r.o. Thanks to it, the company was able to place unique functional and aesthetically attractive products on the market, especially in the field of sporting goods (titanium), jewellery and numismatics (silver), which it can offer to its customers as an innovative new product.
